Grandmothers On The Run began during a run with my daughter’s Mother In-Law who wanted to start entering foot races for fun. I’ve been a distance runner for awhile so I was very happy to have someone to go running with. So, on that fateful day while the “Grandmothers” were out running a 5K, the idea of Grandmothers On The Run began.

While struggling with the design for my company’s logo, my 7 year old granddaughter came to me with a drawing of her rendition of a grandmother. My granddaugher said to me “I know you are worried about your logo so I drew you one Grandma.” That picture also contained a single heart – a pure heart of her love for me. That exact heart is my company’s logo.Grandmothers On The Run is also a movement so-to-speak, a movement to express the love, fun, and generosity that grandmothers feel towards life, their children, and especially their grandchildren.

Giving back is an important cornerstone of this company. Five percent of the company’s proceeds will be donated to a food bank to help those in need. It is our way of saying thanks – Grandmothers are so very blessed.

The Foodbank of Southern California is the perfect place to donate a portion of our proceeds to. Foodbank of Southern California has been providing food in Los Angeles County since 1975. They help feed 250,000 each week; or 2.5% of Los Angeles County’s population. That’s huge! What a difference they are making.

And Foodbank of Souther California maintains the highest volume of distributed food per dollar or operating expense while maintaining the smallest full-time staff of any metropolitan foodbank in the United States. They are known throughout the country as being the most cost effective and efficient foodbank in the entire Nation. And that’s what Grandmothers are too – effective, efficient and caring.

Grandmothers On The Run is about giving back and I’m very proud to be able to donate 5% of our proceed to the Foodbank of Southern California.
